| Coordinator: Deacon John Rose Phone: 610-688-1178 Preparing to welcome a new baby into your home is an exciting time for you and your family. The entire parish community of Our Lady of the Assumption rejoices at the addition of a new baby to our Church and Christian community. For parents who are expecting their first child, our Pre-Jordan ministry offers an opportunity to prepare for their baby's Baptism. The evening of reflection on the theology, ritual and responsibility of Baptism is presented by parents to help new parents understand the importance of this rite in the lives of both their family and the entire church family, the Body of Christ. The agenda of a Pre-Jordan session is the following: • An opening prayer • A discussion of the privilege and responsibility of Parents and Godparents • A review of the symbols used in the Rite of the Sacrament of Baptism: water, words, holy oils, white garment, sign of the cross, candle • Comments, questions, concerns from individuals present • A closing prayer We ask new parents to register through the Rectory office for a pre-Jordan session a few months before your baby's due date. Pre-registration is required for the parents of the newborn baby and the designated Godparents and/or Christian Witness. Parents are notified of the specific date of their Pre-Jordan session upon registering. Parents are requested to complete the Baptismal information form prior to the session. Pre-Jordan sessions are held on the third Monday of each month (see the Parish Bulletin) at 7 PM in the Upper Room (School Hall). Adults seeking Baptism in the Catholic Church should see the RCIA program.
